This past week, the first trailer for retro-cyberpunk survival horror videogame System Intruder was released. With a style inspired by 2000’s era 3D console games, the story sees you trying to unravel the mystery of the ASGARD-04 research complex.

SYSTEM INTRUDER is an atmospheric, first-person retro-cyberpunk horror game.
As Anna, a fragile young woman, you must survive the depths of a hostile skyscraper and uncover the sinister secret behind your presence in this nightmare.

EXPLORE

Just a few hours ago, this place was full of life, and the employees had no idea this shift would be their last. Search for text logs, hack terminals, solve puzzles, and piece together the timeline of the catastrophe that consumed the ASGARD-04 complex.

FIGHT

The facility’s automated systems have twisted the staff into horrific cybernetic monsters. Find weapons to fight back, but beware: ammo is always scarce, and some monstrosities cannot be stopped by bullets alone.

MANAGE RESOURCES

Medical supplies, ammunition, and hacking chips are in short supply, and your inventory space is strictly limited. You will constantly face a choice: what to take with you and what to leave behind.

MAKE YOUR CHOICE

This story has no single “right” ending.  Your choices alone will determine how this nightmare ends for Anna.

If you played 3D first person games in the 2000’s console days, the trailer for System Intruder will bring back happy memories. If you don’t have that sentimental view of them, then the foggy visuals and basic interface screens might be quite jarring. System Intruder is Developed and Published by R-Games, who have previously developed a number of retro-style scifi games, like twin stick shooters Replikator and Water Punk, and their existing 3D thriller game Zero Protocol. Zero Protocol has a rating of Very Positive on Steam, which is a promising sign for this new 3D game.

System Intruder is due for release sometime in 2027, on PC via Steam. You can watch the trailer below.
